Game Design Document
What is a game design document (or GDD)?
"A game design document (often abbreviated GDD) is a highly descriptive living software design document of the design for a video game. A GDD is created and edited by the development team and it is primarily used in the video game industry to organize efforts within a development team. The document is created by the development team as result of collaboration between their designers, artists and programmers as a guiding vision which is used throughout the game development process." What is a one-sheet (or one-pager)?
A one-sheet is a one-page document used to summarize and situate the vision of a game, primarily from a management and marketing perspective.
Here are some resources for students to use:
- One-sheet (or one-pager) template
- Additional one-sheet example and template
- Game design document template
GD210-specific instructions: Each team should submit a Google Drive link for their Game Design Document as a devlog to your project. If you're not sure how to start, please use the template (File->Make a copy). Make sure each team member has editing access and make sure when you share the link that it has viewing access for anyone with the link.
