GD210: Weekly Devlog Requirements
Create a new devlog by going to the Edit Game page and then clicking the Devlog tab. Each person should submit each of the three weekly development logs separately. The purpose is for each team member to separately update the team and the public with the following regarding their area of expertise (art, design or code). When setting goals, make sure they are helpful, specific and concrete. For instance, setting a goal of "working on the game" is not helpful, because, of course your're working on the game! A better goal might be something like "Prof. X agreed to have the primary attack animations for each of our 3 main characters completed by Wednesday so Storm can implement them for those characters in the Unity project." I recommend listing out each question and using bullet point lists for each item, which can be reviewed more quickly.
- In your area, what were your team's goals for the past week?
- In your area, which of these goals have been accomplished by the team?
- In your area, what are the team's goals for next week?
- As an individual, what have you accomplished in the past week?
- As an individual, what will you accomplish by next week to stay on time?
- As an individual, what will you need to learn to accomplish these goals?
- You must have at least 1 visual aid per WDL (diagrams, sketches, screenshots, etc.).
Each WDL should also have a playtesting report. Each team member should be seeking specific feedback from players and having people outside of their team test this. Please include photos of your playtesting. Sample questions for the types of info to include:
- What were you playtesting? For example, an analog prototype with a description, a specific level of the alpha build, etc.
- What did you want to learn through this playtest?
- Who were your playtesters? Do they represent your target audience?
- What did you observe? What did you see when they were playing? Did they interact the way you expected?
- What questions did you ask your playtesters after they played the game?
- What feedback did you receive from your players?
- What, if anything, will you do with that feedback? Did you learn anything?
Once you complete your WDL, make sure to enable comments and make sure it is published (publicly accessible).
